I had the (mis)fortune to not be able to afford residence so I lived off campus and made most of my friends/social circle through the shitty fast food job I worked at. Think I went to 1-2 dorm parties, and I felt the otherness from the on-campus dwellers. However I met lots of artists and bohemians compared to the university demographic (art school on other side of the city) but I definitely feel the hit at this point in my career. No regrets though, I had a lot of fun, learned a lot and am doing well now. Got to party with well known musicians in the city at that time. I think I was too much of a sperg for dorm life anyway, much prefer the club scene and house/loft parties.
