Ask HN: What's your favorite “metaverse”/virtual world?
When it comes to software for real-time 3D virtual worlds (like Second Life, OpenCobalt and Vircadia), what's your favorite and why?
- Parker_Powell 4y agoMy favorite "metaverse" is Second Life. Second Life is such a special place because it's like the world's largest, free-est art studio—where instead of paintings, you create whole interactive worlds. I've been there since I was 13, and it's been the space where I've learned everything from programming to animation to creative writing to design. I still keep a little home on an island in Second Life today, and I go back every few months to catch up with friends and see what new buildings people have created.
- ge96 4y agoAt the moment would say VRChat just because anytime of the day you can just drop in/meet random people in this world. It's funny I still feel anxiety (don't really want to talk/share my voice). The recent Zenith was impressive but needs to mature (quality). I was using an Index but it still has that low poly vibe.
