I went through an entire four-year CS degree and two years of professional work and in that time heard Lisp mentioned exactly once, as a literal historical footnote in a powerpoint slide, as "and there was this weird language with all these parentheses, now, moving on..."
Then I found myself working at a lisp shop and learned a whole lot more about it
- tomgp 5y agoI had a similar experiendce on my degree course but I'd known about List before college because my father is an architect and early adopter of CAD software (we're talking 1988) and AutoCAD used AutoLISP for scripting.
