Were the Stimulus Checks a Mistake?

The stimulus checks will never be a mistake. Ideally they should never have happened though. It seems to me there's really 2 problems that predated the stimulus cheques. 1. Border screening or closing the border to as much as possible. Quarantine for all things crossing the border. This was considered xenophobic by some politicians. Borders can sometimes be closed. 2. No general lockdowns at all, just sick benefits for if you're sick. Politicians decide who pays the sick benefits, government or employer. Unlimited sick days and let people stay home.
