One-Time Pads (2002)
- noobermin 4y agoCompletely off topic, but I'm amazed the word "meme" was used like this in 2002. I had thought the term meme came into usage due to 4chan which was a few years later... Note: you should change the url to link specifically to the "one-time pad" article.
- rdegges 4y agoSorry! The direct link to the article has a URL fragment, and I believe that got stripped out of my submission somehow, maybe an admin can update if they see this :(
- ChrisGranger 4y agoRichard Dawkins coined the word, and it appeared in his book The Selfish Gene, 1976.
- noobermin 4y agoI'm aware of the actual origin, it's the fact that it's used this way to refer to online "memes" even back then. It was due to the online usage that the term was adopted in wider popular usage.
