Hot air ballons are a good example of replicating a natural phenomenon without exploiting the principals behind it.
Technically it is flight and it can certainly be useful but it's a different type of flight.
Until we learn the principals behind how our own brains work, AI will forever be artificial.
If it were as easy as fire we would have solved it long ago.
