Much like mid range phones, it's perfectly usable, and leagues better than anything I had access to as a kid. One way to think of it would be as a point on the cost vs benefit curve. There is a region of the c/b curve that is almost flat. There is also a region where the curve is very steep. The Pi is on a steep part of the curve. If it's the very best you can get, of course, it's still awesome.
