In high school I'd have to wait a few hours in the library every evening to be picked up, so I set up an SSH server at home and had my laptop with me. I didn't know about GIT at that time, so I'd SSH into my home server and edit files on the fly with Nano. I actually coded quite a bit, and built a basic social networking app fully in nano. Looking back I have no idea how I did it. Anything less than an IDE with VIM-mode is a no-go for me these days.
