Why Optimizing Employee Performance Is the Future of Work
- Mountain_Skies 4y ago>The office is no longer a venue for people to work in their cubicles; instead, it's a forum to create human connections. Rather than looking for large offices in business parks, organizations should explore creating hubs where employees can connect. At Optimere, after talking with our employees, we closed our large office in a San Diego suburb and replaced it with two small offices located in beach communities just outside the city, close to where most employees live. Simply requiring employees to step out of their home is already recreating 80% of the friction that caused them to want to work remotely in the first place. The 20% reduction in annoyance will be welcome by those who end up having no choice in returning to the office but that's not the same thing as them welcoming the return. Retention likely will end up being a problem as employees are poached by companies that are able to offer much more than a 20% reduction in friction.
