I've felt for a while that this is one of the most amazing advancements in my field in my lifetime. What's missing for me is an updated standard curriculum on building compilers; we shouldn't be teaching students how to just build batch compilers anymore. We need a standard set of algorithms that we use to create interactive compilers and IDE support, including refactoring.
