What happens once usage reaches the budget? Should AWS simply turn off all of the systems and delete all the data?
- speedgoose 4y agoSame thing than what they do when a customer doesn’t pay his bills. Perhaps keep the data for some time before deleting it.
- clintonb 4y agoHow much data should be kept? If you have a multi-TB database, should AWS keep all of it, and keep charging you beyond the cap?
- speedgoose 4y agoI’m sure AWS can keep a few terabytes of data for a few weeks, hoping to keep a good customer.
- londons_explore 4y agoLet that be configurable when you set the cap. You could have 'soft cap and hard cap'. You could have everything deleted except persistent data. You could have everything gets rate limited to near zero to keep the rate of spend per hour below some threshold.
- gdfgjhs 4y agoYeah if I am just playing or learning around new tech, then please delete everything instead of billing me thousands of dollars. If my business runs of AWS, then rate limit or even reclaim some servers if storage is in S3. The nightmare scenarios that keep showing up in news are the reason that I stopped playing around in AWS/Cloud.
