The current AI paradaigm is fundamentally flawed.
We do not yet understand the principles of intelligence nor even a clear definition of it.
It's like trying to build a flying machine without understanding the principals of flight.
Unless there is a big break through in neuroscience. I wouldn't lose any sleep over it.

The Montgolfier brothers didn't need to study bird wings to make their hot-air balloon, and if birds didn't exist the Wright brothers could still have learnt the principle of aerodynamic lift from looking at sail boats. I think people over-estimate the amount of understanding needed for trial-and-error to work. To give another example, the first humans to control fire didn't need to understand oxidation reactions.
- shahbaby 4y agoHot air ballons are a good example of replicating a natural phenomenon without exploiting the principals behind it. Technically it is flight and it can certainly be useful but it's a different type of flight. Until we learn the principals behind how our own brains work, AI will forever be artificial. If it were as easy as fire we would have solved it long ago.
