- layer8 5y agoJq, yq, zq, gq, rq, … I wonder when we’ll complete the *q alphabet. :)

- alex_hirner 5y agoInsert and repeat: https://github.com/01mf02/jaq https://github.com/01mf02/jaq
- Bayart 5y agoThere's also yq for YAML (it wraps around jq).
- layer8 5y agoThanks, added it to my comment.
- notamy 5y agoI feel special for not making my tool[0] a member of the *q alphabet family (: [0] shameless plug: https://github.com/queer/utt https://github.com/queer/utt
- UncleEntity 5y agoThen we’ll have to go for three letters — I reserve bbq.
- mbel 5y agoInteresting that CSV is supported but XML is missing. Is it finally dead?
- stormbrew 5y agoHuh I didn't know rq dropped its own query language support. That's kind of disappointing tbh, because I just really want to have one tool that's as powerful as jq and understands all the json-y formats. That said I also don't really want the thing that does that to reinvent the wheel, jq's syntax may be annoying but at this point it's "won" really and "different query language + all the formats" is just an awkward niche to fill.
- ducktective 5y agoI think `rq | jq` is more in line with UNIX philosophy.

- mmgutz 5y agoI switched to dasel a while back. Not as powerful, but I tend to use node when I want to do anything complicated with JSON querying. I spend too much time rereading the jq manual to do anything non-trivial. https://github.com/TomWright/dasel https://github.com/TomWright/dasel
