Dirty Secrets of the Linux and Open Source Industry
- themodelplumber 5y agoPretty interesting, if you frame Linux using a corporate, stacked model of what it may "really" be. (I put "really" in quotes because this is hardly all-inclusive research given the number of licensing models and sheer variety of communities. And also deceptive, as a POV, if you consider what FOSS means to create in terms of value on the ground: A breadth-first, networked world of technological possibilities which frequently makes the old world of stacked, single-owner operations seem incredibly small and stifling. If anything it's like a shifting-stack model, but on purpose.
