What do you mean?
- ldng 4y agoI mean that E-ink business practices are the biggest (the hugest even) obstacle to a wide ePaper adoption. They pretty much own all of the most important patent and you only see progress in the products in the consumer market when they expire.

They pretty much own all of the most important patent and you only see progress in the products in the consumer market when they expire. What business practices exactly? Hopefully you won't cite the one HN post made by a throwaway account 2 years ago as evidence, or the blogs that refer to that HN post as evidence and then other HN comments that refer to that blog as citations. Do you actually know real details or this is just your impression of things? I work in the display industry and I keep seeing exactly your type of comment on HN. Everytime I see it, I ask a simple question. Which patent do you think is blocking progress in electrophoretic displays? I've never gotten a good answer. It is always nonsensical like "all of their patents" or "http://patents.google.com/search/eink http://patents.google.com/search/eink". See my comment history. I'm guessing you don't actually work in the display industry and know anything specific about electrophoretics, right? You realize it is the equivalent of me coming here and then saying "Intel's business practices are the biggest (the hugest even) obstacle to wide x86 adoption" or "Google's business practices are the biggest (the hugest even) obstacle to wide search adoption" and then saying "They pretty much own all the most important patent".
