I don't understand what happens to the kid once they outgrows the nursery?

  This being Heinlein’s house, I assume the plan is to give them a gun, teach them how to use it, and kick them out into the world. They’re ready!

    I don’t think Heinlein would have thought it appropriate to just give his children guns. Guns are expensive. I’m sure he’d have had them earn their own guns.
