Or, if you are developing, just use IDLE.
- toxik 4y agoPlease don’t post low-effort dismissals of people’s projects. Not only is it rude, but also insubstantial. You can just say “IDLE does something similar […]”, and substantiate the claim. FYI, IDLE does not do what this project aims to do.
- wrycoder 4y agoIDLE restarts the entire computation in a subprocess every time you press “run”. It is excellent for beginners and small projects, as no reloading is required when you change the code of an imported module.
- Shish2k 4y agoThat’s great… but that’s not what this module is for
- wrycoder 4y agoI understand, but, except in those few cases that require hot reloading into a running program, it's conceptually much more straightforward and less risky to simply restart the computation. It can cause a beginner considerable (a|be)musement, when a change to an imported module isn't reflected in the output as expected. From the docs: "In many cases extension modules are not designed to be initialized more than once, and may fail in arbitrary ways when reloaded." and "If a module instantiates instances of a class, reloading the module that defines the class does not affect the method definitions of the instances — they continue to use the old class definition. The same is true for derived classes."
