Ask HN: Do Musk companies do things differently/better?
Is working for a Musk company as stupid as working for every other big company?
I know about much of the bad stuff -- the racism, sexism, union-busting, humiliation and bullying and steve jobs-wannabe-ism stuff -- but is there anything good?
for instance, do you have team-building exercises?
or, do you do daily standups?
i'm guessing that you are 'doing things' that you are justifying as awesome, or world-saving, etc. -- but i'm just trying to get down to whether or not there is any corporate, large-ish company out there that isn't like every other corporate, large-ish company out there.
I would guess not, mainly because I feel like the types of people who really thrive in a Musk company are those same folks who would thrive at places like McKinsey, Uber, etc.
There may be top engineers, etc., but the manager-types are the folks who run these places, and i suspect they're horrible like most other manager types -- except worse.
I think I'll just continue to imagine that such a company exists.
Maybe when Humanity 2.0 emerges after the nuclear winter, a few thousand years from now.
