This can be really useful for architectural visualizations. For archviz you don't need an accurate 3D model but one that looks good and casts shadows.

  But can't you just use Poser models for that or any of the thousands of asset packages out there? I'd imagine smart mirrors in clothes stores as a much more intriguing application.

    Sure, but if you want a specific model in a specific posture this can be a quick solution.
