Take it up with the landlords who unilaterally set the prices.
- anamax 4y agoWhy should I have sympathy for someone who rents at premium prices but doesn't get premium services? They can, wait for it, MOVE. (One benefit of being rich is the ability to respond when things are not as you'd like.)
- vmception 4y agoI don't know or care about your class based disdain, I said I have sympathy for it and if I was in the situation I would have mild disappointment and consider moving but probably be content with delivery services
- anamax 4y agoYes, they're disappointed. The thing is, they can fix the problem. If they don't care enough to fix the problem when it is well within their means to do so, why should I? That's not a class thing - it's a "take care of your shit" thing.
- vmception 4y agoWe’re still talking about nice neighborhoods with instagrammable stores and a couple bodegas that cant afford the rent right? Whats there to take care of? Who is taking care of what, are we still talking about renters that you want to move at the slightest idea of having a complaint? So do they move or take care of something? Who does what here. “They” seems to be consistent, taking care of it is ordering on Doordash or subscribing to Amazon food delivery for essentials. Easier than moving.
- anamax 4y agoYes, and we're talking about whether it's an actual problem. First of all, the vast majority of people live blocks, if not miles, from bodegas or their equivalent. Why are these people special? Note that they could have bodegas - they're just not willing to pay what it costs to have bodegas in those neighborhoods and they're unwilling to move, despite having the means to do so. (Of course, you can interpret Doordash as a way to buy a substitute for nearby bodegas. In which case, they've paid to solve the problem in a way that is acceptable to them. Where do you get off saying otherwise?) Yes, some of them are complaining. So what? That's all that they're willing to do, despite having the ability to do more. Their actions tell us that this really isn't a big problem for them. I never care more about someone else's problems than they do. Feel free to do otherwise.
