All this scary long covid stuff seems to directly contradict the current policies of many institutions, such as RTO, removal of mask mandates, giving up on enforcing the 3rd booster, etc. It would be extremely stupid to relax pandemic restrictions if this was a serious threat. Therefore, I have to believe stuff like this is fake news, or at the very least some type of clickbait based on questionable studies. I also had omicron and had a mild fever for 1 day and that's it, no "long covid" from me, so yeah.

I'll have to go with clickbait as well, if this was more widespread there would be a lot more news in this area. The human race have known many serious illnesses over time, but there is no evidence that COVID should be number one on that list. I see this more as a long drawn out realization that we can live with COVID and those who need better protection can get the vaccine. Totalitarian regimes will see this as a chance to exert more control over its citizens, while the rest of the world moves on. It's time to focus on the environment now, which is hard to do when Putin is invading Ukraine.
