Is Albinoni's Adagio the biggest fraud in music history? (2017)
- themadturk 5y agoSeattle's KING-FM radio is good at making classical music more approachable, and they present the tale the Adagio as one of their juiciest intros whenever they play it. I'd never heard this much about the Adagio's background (a classical DJ can only provide so much detail in 30 seconds or less), but their attitude has always been more or less "wherever it came from, let's enjoy it."
- rurban 5y agoThis is an old article, which does not know about the latest findings. See it's Wikipedia. They found now original documents from Dresden which proves Albinoni's origin, and proves that Giazotto didn't lie. About the movie critics: Laughable. It's a classic and films do love classics. Every second french film uses the very same Mozart or Schubert pieces. Good things don't die. In this case they even have to pay royalties, excellent!
