Big Tech’s last minute attempt to tame EU tech rules
- raxxorraxor 5y agoTo me this doesn't sounds like a battle between the EU parliament and big tech at all. More or less like an alliance between large companies and politics (not unheard off). The aim is to spread the good kind of information and not the bad kind of information. But any qualifier is highly subjective and not at all determined by the judicial system in the end and instead by political whims of the day. Deleting illegal information with 24h? How long do you think a real judgement from any of our western judicial system would take to determine something illegal? 1 year, perhaps 2? So who is anyone kidding that content will be evaluated by judges? Also just shorty before voting on it an emergency clause was added (seriously, no new legislation can live without emergencies. It would just not be the cool type of legislation I guess). This emergency clause references the war in Ukraine. It is up to you to deduce what that could mean...
