Perhaps I simplified your question, but for me, every important digital "thing" I have is stored in my paid Dropbox account (2TB).
I believe that as a rule of thumb, private tech companies invent and upgrade new technologies to make their product better, and a company like Dropbox is surely thinking of this. In my Dropbox account, I have EXE files of small programs I wrote in Visual Basic 20 years ago, and they still work after being stored there for at least 12 years. Good luck.
- dolmen 4y agoBut "private tech companies" do not provide process to keep our data alive beyond their owner. Data will disappear if you stop paying. You might stop paying because you are dead, but also because you have health issues.
