Salmon is not loved in Japan. It’s mostly American sushi restaurants due to more fatty taste and familiarity. It is also largely due to Moonies and the fact that salmon was easy to source in the US.
- presentation 5y agoAs someone who lives in Japan happy to say that you’re wrong and sushi places both cheap and expensive serve salmon all the time, and Japanese people order them all the time.
- lvl102 5y agoAs a Japanese, I can say it was not loved. It’s there now and perhaps it’s enjoyed.
- 3np 5y agoSome people love it, some don't. It is loved, just not universally. Aside, but like most other foods old or new it will have its fair share of TV airtime with celebrities making loud faces about how delicious it is ;) Or what distinction do you make between "it is enjoyed" and "it is loved"?

- jeemusu 5y agoAs someone who lives in Japan, it may well be available but it is not LOVED by Japanese people. I'm always amazed how many of my Japanese friends don't eat Salmon sushi.
- JetAlone 5y agoI'm genuinely curious, what do the Moonies have to do with the history of salmon sushi? I presume you're talking about this group that was founded in Korea, right? https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Unification_Church https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Unification_Church
