I don’t understand - how is that not a fork?

  it's a different developer workflow -- initially and with regard to ongoing maintenance/updating -- to the same end.

    But a fork you maintain with ‘quilt’ and a bunch of shell scripts (or whatever your implementation is) is still a fork, isn’t it?

      I don't know, I guess it's a question of definitions? It feels differently to me as a developer which of the things that seem analogous I do in ruby. I don't have experience using this particular tool in JS.
