- efreak 4y agoI think you mean a small, not scary warning that occurs all of once, only the very first time you install an app. I install apps from fdroid on a regular basis, and there's just a prompt, with options to cancel or install (see [0] for a screenshot): > Do you want to install an update to this existing application? Your existing data will not be lost. Of course, you have to allow the third party app to initiate installs to begin with the very first time you try to install from that app, but that's not much worse, really (screenshots at [1]). This seems pretty clear cut to me, and less scary than the disclaimers in open source software on Windows. Now, if your app wants to modify system settings, access non-media files, etc...well, it's still not scary, really; for system settings changes, the OS will pop up a prompt similar to that for installing the app, while for accessibility and other permissions most apps will directly open the appropriate section of settings where all you have to do is approve the app. I think the warning on enabling a new keyboard is scarier, tbh.
