OpenTitan: Open source silicon root of trust
- panick21_ 5y ago500k to join LowRisc to get access to their plans seems not like a great way to run a open-source project.
- progbits 5y agoNot sure where you are getting "quietly" from. OpenTitan is a well known project in the embedded/security space and has been discussed here several times: https://hn.algolia.com/?q=opentitan https://hn.algolia.com/?q=opentitan
- marcodiego 5y agoThe part "We've been rather quiet on the PR front" in https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=31135054 https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=31135054 .
- sph 5y agoCan we please uneditorialise the title?
- CaliforniaKarl 5y agoSure! Please shoot a quick email to hn@ycombinator.com, giving the HN URL for the article and sentence or two stating your concern.
- jhugo 5y agoat least fix the spelling mistake: devolping -> developing
- dang 5y agoFixed now. More at https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=31137648 https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=31137648.
- dudus 5y agoTheir website is very upfront https://opentitan.org/ https://opentitan.org/
- tptacek 5y agoThat's what this story should link to.
- dang 5y agoWe've changed the URL to that from https://github.com/lowRISC/opentitan https://github.com/lowRISC/opentitan, as well as the title. The submitted title ("Google, Western Digital, Seagate quietly devolping an open source root of trust") broke the site guidelines badly, specifically this one: "Please use the original title, unless it is misleading or linkbait; don't editorialize." https://news.ycombinator.com/newsguidelines.html https://news.ycombinator.com/newsguidelines.html
