My understanding would suggest it's better phrased as the US is destroying it's tech industry by doubling-down on unproductive enterprises. Too much of our tech industry is focused on building walled gardens and inventing new ways to be a middle-man or nickel and dime people. China is actually taking a strong stance against the current wild west of getting children addicted to gambling with microtransactions.
