I'll just add that I appreciate her cynicism because there is a staggering amount of bullshit in the high energy theory community. Embracing creativity is absolutely paramount, but people need to grow up and accept their own theory failures when they occur.
- patrick451 4y agoThis seems to be all of academia. Maybe high energy physics is the worst offender, but from what I saw in gradschool, you need to be half charlatan to make it as a tenured professor, otherwise your grants don't get funded and your papers don't get published.
