What is the alternative? Let's say blue origin goes bankrupt and disappears. Now we as a nation will have to wait for another company to get to the same level as blue origin. We don't know how long that will take, if ever? In the mean time the US will have to spend billions to advance space exploration. Or we can give blue origin 10 billion and let it continue with its goals. The money will be spent either way. There's no great choice but giving Bezos' company the money is the better choice. Space exploration needs to be financed now so at some point it is a commercial success. Very little advances will be made if we can't find a financial model that will keep it going on its own.
