Could you just filter your blood externally, dialysis-style, and get rid of these chemicals that way?
- Pulcinella 5y agoPerhaps these sorts of chemicals re not particularly water soluble? Otherwise you kidneys could just filter them out into your urine.
- munk-a 5y agoEven if the body doesn't have the equipment built in to deal with it it's not a stretch to believe that we could build an external machine specialized to the task - whether dialysis machines can do it on their own or not I'm uncertain.
- colechristensen 5y agoI would much rather lose blood than require my body to try to rebalance what a dialysis machine disrupted. A filter which excludes all of the things you don’t want in your blood and left anything besides plain water would be hard, not worth the trouble.
