US Navy wirelessly beams 1.6 kW of power a kilometer using microwaves
- ge96 5y ago"beaming power solar orbital" What's the losses on that and is that like a "column of death" don't fly through that area. It's a sick technology, not really against it just curious.
- mikecoles 5y ago60% efficiency was stated in the article. It didn't mention how concentrated that was at the receiver. What is received by an identical antenna, parabolic dish, phased array?
- Trouble_007 5y ago>60% efficiency was stated in the article< Pulse vs Continuous CW. Also, whether H-pol, V-pol or Circular-pol - rain/hail/snow/fog/humidity scattering and attenuation. And of course RF eating trees;) But I can see some novel uses!
- ge96 4y agoAlso interesting that's less than a mile, so you do 1200 miles up for an LEO satellite... yeah. There is the laser approach too. I guess if they figure out space elevator, just use that, a literal power line from the sky to the ground ha. Oh use repeaters (high altitude balloons)... not sure if that helps.
