Is there a natural tendency for open source software repositories to be run by private companies? Perhaps the cost of development and maintenance make it difficult for non-profit organizations provide comparable services?
- mcherm 4y agoI don't think the cost of development is an issue, but the cost of hosting certainly is. Open source organizations have a lot of resources (programmers, reputation, etc) but it is rare for them to have much money.
