When your supplier decommits on your order, new order lead times are > 52 weeks and the open market price is 2 orders of magnitude higher than buying new, this starts to make some sense. Either you find a way to make product to sell, or you don't sell any product. It's ugly out there right now.
- HeyLaughingBoy 4y agoI do the occasional hardware design. I just started a new project and I can't find the parts I need new in stock at distributors. However, I have unused stock, still in antistatic packaging with 1990's vintage date codes. Never thought I'd ever use another DIP part again! Customer doesn't care: they just want their boards delivered.
