I want an Android app that does this: samples my location data at a regular interval (that I define) and posts it to an URL (that I also define). I run a lot and would prefer to track my own runs vs having my data live on RunKeeeper or wherever.
- coffeecheque 5y agoExcuse me if I’m missing something, but why do you need the internet at all? Can’t you collect your location with a GPS watch as you run and just handle the gpx file offline when you get home? Unless you’re looking to share location with others as you run - in which case your request makes sense. Would OwnTracks meet your requirements? https://owntracks.org/ https://owntracks.org/
- schwartzworld 5y agoAn app that does what I'm asking could serve as a generic way of getting my location data into any number of projects. As to why not buy a running watch: I already have a smartphone. OwnTracks seems to cover my use case, but has a lot of unnecessary features built in. I can probably use that.
