I can’t say I fully agree with the article but I do think that someone needs to close the gap between the hyperscalers (AWS firmly in the lead in that group) and smaller infrastructure providers like OVH, Hetzner, etc. I think you could restate this as “smaller providers need to step up their game” as well. As far as closing the gap, I’m working on nimbus web services [0] and that’s exactly what it’s for — I want to build the middle layer (hopefully a bit less chaotic than AWS’s) so that people on smaller clouds have access to some scale/abstractions.
