I wonder if other studies like this have been done with other infections?
I suspect that many infections lead to worse outcomes for surgery. In this case it would be most interesting to see how this manifested. Was it blood clots, heart or organ failure or just undefined cause of death.
- newbamboo 5y agoI didn’t read the study but I would suspect that those who had “elective” surgery are not a perfectly matched sample to those who did not.
