Musk: “complexity and cost of a car is greater than that of a humanoid robot”
- jleyank 5y agoGiven that cars are old technology, Musk must mean the self-driving part. I figure he's not talking about entertainment systems, and everything else would be familiar to people from 50 years ago or more.
- quantified 5y agoSince humanoid robot has no standard definition, we can find cases where this is true.
- verdverm 5y agoIt's really about the amount of materials needed and assembly cost. Robots are made of cheaper and fewer parts. They don't need the giga-press and have less need to worry about crash safety. What are they really... motors, battery, a few cameras, computer, mostly plastic
- quantified 5y agoTouch, taste, smell sensors that completely mimic or surpass human senses all over the body… ALL over. How much do they cost? As soon as you say they don’t need to mimic human capability, I can build one from random junk for about USD50 and it can mimic a comatose patient pretty well.
