I'm currently using my iPad as a VNC client for a headless Mac mini, it's pretty close to a laptop. But need to figure out how to get a better wifi connection from my home office to my bed room btw.
- thih9 4y agoSounds really cool. What are your favorite benefits of this setup over a regular laptop? Anything to watch out for?
- huydotnet 4y agoNothing special, I bought a Mac Mini about a year ago, things have changed a lot and I don't get to sit at my desk as a regular during the night, selling it seems hard, and Apple just accept a Late 2021 M1 mac mini with 16GB RAM, 1TB SSD for $450 lol. So I decided to continue using it as a headless computer via my iPad instead of trying to sell it. The image quality on VNC depends a lot on the internet connection btw, even for the same wifi at home, I had to use Adaptive Quality mode for a better experience. There are not so many good VNC clients on iPad, Screens Connect seems to be the best one.
- DividableMiddle 4y agoAre you using the built-in macOS VNC server is Screens Connect (the service)?
- huydotnet 4y agoAh I mean using the Screens for iOS app on my iPad to connect to the mac mini. On that mac mini, I'm using the built-in macOS VNC server.
