Why Atlassian Failed So Hard
- mc4ndr3 5y agobruh all they had to do was test the change once in a non-prod environment. amateur hour
- salacryl 5y agobruh, the script worked but was executed with the wrong parameters. This can happen and was not the main issue. The communication was weird, also: not having a batch solution for per-customer restore. that was so weird, I assume that this won't happen again.
- jleyank 5y agoMove fast and break things doesn't/shouldn't refer to your customers. At some point, companies have to provide reliable, safe service particularly when planning to force customers off their own machines into the cloud. Amateur hour is right, also uncaring.
- 0x20cowboy 5y agoI am not a fan of Atlassian for several reasons, but they are a smart bunch, and I am pretty sure they will learn from this. There will be some well scared engineers who have learned some good lessons. It’s good to have people around who “have seen things”. Mistakes happen, but not learning from a mistake would be the tragedy. (If you use Jira you are already used to pain and frustration - you’ll be fine.)
