Is it just you who thinks government censorship is the only kind of censorship? You probably have some company on that position.
Content moderation is exactly what television censors did. Most people would agree that’s censorship — it’s right there in the name.
- CamperBob2 5y agoNot comparable. If television censors didn't do their jobs, the FCC would have revoked their station licenses.
- riffic 5y agoNot only did you have to worry about the FCC, the advertisers would have ran away. This is still very much a concern when it comes to why Twitter enforces the rules it has on the books.

- Bud 5y agoNot remotely comparable. In the early TV era, there was no realistic and comparable alternative venue for the speech being censored. In the modern internet era, of course, there are dozens or hundreds of credible alternative ways to disseminate your speech.
