Honda Orders Takedown of Honda-Related 3D Printing Models from Maker Communities
- incomingpain 5y agoI find this beyond ironic. Multiple other manufacturers have outright jumped into the 3d printing community. Literally today 3d printing nerd posted a video he got a ford maverick which had 3d printing fully incorporated: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zaV16gLxBeU https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zaV16gLxBeU The irony to me, Honda made this huge play for Hydrogen fuel and got so far behind on EVs. Some heads rolled and now Honda is rushing big time to catch up. Yet here they are striking out against the 3d printing community? They just don't get it.

- Grimburger 5y agoRidiculous, they'll just move to websites that ignore takedowns and life goes on. Sometimes wonder what goes through the heads of people at these companies. A lot of the parts you'll find on these sites are nearly impossible to buy without purchasing a much larger component they are embedded in. Having repaired a few late model cars this stuff is mostly cosmetic and it's a hard justification to buy say a full console dash for $150 simply because a knob broke off, so it stays broken. I'd honestly pay car manufacturers good money for nothing but 3D CAD models of various parts. Seems like a decent add on for them, especially for older cars which they barely make anything on.
