How Close Are We to World War III?
- WheelsAtLarge 5y agoAn accidental attack by Russia on NATO or the other way around. Pretty close if you ask me. WWI was started by something similar. I wish we could tone it down some how.
- incomingpain 5y agoAccording to Russian government news it is ongoing now. Ukraine scuttled their navy, they dont have naval superiority but the Moskva the russian flagship was sunk? I struggle to see how Russia would think Ukraine did this on their own. Inevitably their failure to really take Ukraine in any real measure will eventually also be blamed upon NATO countries. Eventually some nobody russian trooper or stray missile will hit something it shouldn't. Eventually some provocation will push the wrong button. Lets not forget the cyberwar that is active and hot right now. The day Ukraine was invaded was the day world war 3 started. USA war exhaustion is super high. World tension is practically maxed out. The reality sucks, but not much you or I can do about it.
- glandium 5y ago> The day Ukraine was invaded was the day world war 3 started. In 2014 or in 2022?
- incomingpain 5y ago>In 2014 or in 2022? Good question, 2014 was indeed an invasion and certainly the opening. However was this WW3? I feel like the world reacted but given crimea is indeed highly russian due to the Russian base. There is a right to self-determination and they would say to join Russia or become independent. Was it WW3 for 8 years? No I dont think so. But in 2022 when they properly invaded ukraine. does it retroactively add the 8 years? Probably still no.
- darthrupert 5y agoNot very vlose, like the people say here. Russia is trying to punch way above its weight when it claims that it can trigger one. Putin's Russia is a small player and this war is about to make him and them even smaller.
