Elon Musk’s takeover bid of Twitter puts a spotlight on Mastodon
- rvz 5y agoRealistically, No one is actually going to Mastodon. There is no-one on there that bothers to post anything that can be seen by any serious person. Even if the whole of Facebook or Twitter just shutdown for a week, the masses would rather wait for it to get back up than to begin to either think about signing up to Mastodon, as the network effect is still stuck on Facebook or Twitter as it has done for decades. With only as much as 2 million users on it after 6 years, Mastodon is essentially a confused contraption to the public eye with questionable and deranged beings that will put off 'influencers' to even get themselves and their followers to begin to touch the platform in the same way Gab has done. They still hesitate to join the platform. For the same similar reasons, Mastodon has essentially failed and is not a serious competitor to Facebook, or Twitter. It is that remote.
- polytely 5y agoi hope it stays that way, i found a nice little corner with cool people and I don't wanna see any 'influencers' or company accounts on my timeline. I just want to share interesting stuff and dumb jokes with cool people and it fits that role perfectly in my life.
