Another big shipping line is refusing to export the West’s plastic waste
- WheelsAtLarge 5y agoI get it the wealthy nations are sending their waste to poorer nations but the wealthy nations are getting a lot of plastic from the countries that manufacture the goods in the form of plastic packaging in the first place. We need to stop the plastic at the source, manufacturing countries, rather than to dispose of the packaging after we get the products delivered. It's not all the waste but it would have a big impact on the amount of waste created.
- ratsforhorses 5y agoWe need to educate people that plastic atm is not really recyclable and they need to avoid using it... buying bigger quantities wrapped in paper, not buyng that mixed salad... changing buying habits is key, legislation another...unfortunately the more affluent "West" has it's head in the sand , is transfixed by the headlines of a potential WW3 style conflict or has beliefs(religious) which induce themto believe(and welcome) a future apocalypse....
