Yeah I've definitely thought about this as well! A 6 month to 1 year sabbatical could be massively helpful in sort of being a reset, and providing clarity. It seems like more developers are doing this. It's a bit hard for me to justify the opportunity cost of what I could make and invest in that year, but you do only live once... For me at least, doing some freelance or contract work during that time to help cover my living expenses would ease my mind. Of course, then it's not really a full mental reset.
