Yeah it's truly baffling. I saw a comment the other day (here, on Hacker News) about a hypothetical situation where Musk starts banning accounts that have pronouns (like he/him) in their bio if he gets to run Twitter. This wouldn't have even crossed my mind, to be honest. In my opinion there's a surprising level of projection and self-awareness here. These thoughts are just that: hypotheticals. We don't know what's going to happen. But it's undeniable Twitter is a bad state right now. Edit: you're definitely going to get downvoted, but IMO it's the only reasonable take I've seen on here.
