Apparently some(? many? most?) of them refuse to work at all until they've been "set up" over the internet. Don't know for sure though; I'm clinging to my old dumb TV like a life raft.
- DoingIsLearning 5y agoAll the sony tvs that I have owned, I just connect HDMI inputs. The TV works as intended. If I use sony's remote and go to the home menu it is still waiting for a connection but it works just fine as a tv panel.
