Half of US adults were exposed to harmful lead levels as kids, study finds
- version_five 5y agoThis sounds like less of a big deal than is implied. I'm very happy we've reduced lead levels and removed it as a gasoline additive. But if exposure is so widespread, its overall impact has certainly been minor. Compared to smoking, opiate prohibition, alcohol, sugar, salt, fat, other air pollution, the list goes on, I don't see it as something to get worked up about, despite it being good that we've addressed it.
- moistly 5y agoThere are lead pipes EVERYWHERE in the US. Many of them are as bad, or worse, than the Flint debacle. https://www.vox.com/a/lead-exposure-risk-map https://www.vox.com/a/lead-exposure-risk-map https://www.nrdc.org/lead-pipes-widespread-used-every-state https://www.nrdc.org/lead-pipes-widespread-used-every-state It's almost everywhere and in older cities it is especially hazardous. Not nearly enough attention is being paid to this, let alone is action being taken fast enough. Sure does explain why the nation seems to be getting angrier and dumber, though.
